Bad Kitty Trail-City 10K and 5k @ Wildwood Park

The Bad Kitty will be held February 2, 2019 at 8:00 A.M. If you have been apprehensive about trying trail running, this race is for you. You will experience 5k of the race in beautiful downtown Florence, followed by 5k on the trails of Wildwood Park.

Bad Kitty Trail 10-k Trail Race & 5-km Fun Run 2018

Date: February 2nd       Registration: 8:00-8:45     Race start time: 9:00 am      Location: 1 Harrison Plz @ the UNA Fountain

Description of Courses: The course will be well marked and “manicured” with an aid station. All distances will include a little over 1 mile road run from the UNA Fountain to the trails in Wildwood Park. The 10-k will have around 5 miles of single track trail. Sections of the course will be very challenging and technical. This course is not a smooth “rails-to-trails” type event, and it is called the Bad Kitty for a reason. That is why you signed up right? The scenery is beautiful and inspiring with a mix of tall hardwoods and Cypress Creek bordering a side of the park. There will be two live lions at the start of the race. There will be many curves, hills, uneven ground, roots, rocks, small water crossings, and a potential for muddy areas if it rains. Please be sure to read the Potential Risks section. The 5-k will include ~2-miles of somewhat less challenging trail. While this trail will be “easier” it will still include hills and the same types of surfaces that may result in falling as the longer course.

Shirts and Swag: We will have long sleeve tees for our first winter time Bad Kitty race. You must register by February 3rd (when we will order shirts) to be guaranteed a race shirt. The first 50 runners registered will be eligible for a drawing for 5 hammocks. There will be drawings for more door prizes for all runners and a goody bags from our sponsors.  Must be present to get swag. We don’t hold shirts if you do not attend the race.

Timing and trophies: The nature of this event will be to promote trail running and raise money for some noble causes versus competition per se, but we will keep time using the Solid Rock Race Timing chip system (results will be posted). The top 3 overall male and female finishers for the 10-k race distance will get a unique shirt with “Bad Cat” (3rd place), “Badder Cat” (2nd place), and “Baddest Cat” (1st place) on their shirt’s name plate versus “Finisher”.  First place overall finishers will get their time/name on the back of all future race t-shirts.
